Welcome and check in can be awkward. A formal check in process can feel impersonal and like something only large youth groups do. But what if it allows you to know when a certain student has missed a few weeks? Small talk can be great with new students, but painful with students who have been coming to your ministry for months but aren’t in your small group. But what if it shows them that you’ve been paying attention and that your ministry is a place where they are known? Sometimes as youth workers we can become so familiar with our program that we are blinded to the parts that could be more effective. But if we would look at everything as if we are first time guests it can be helpful and revealing. Not only that, but as a volunteer there are enormous opportunities for you to help each part of your program be helpful for your core mission. Join Sid, Lisette, and Jer in the second episode of this series all about making the most of every part of your program!
